The GST issue has again recently been in the news. Various complain were being heard from the companies stating that they are facing heavy challenges in matching the invoices on the GST Portal during the filing of GSTR-2. Complains have come forth in the very first filing month of GSTR-2.
The Government has finally extended the last date of GSTR-2 (July) filing till 30th November 2017 when the previous last submission date was October 31. Again, the November 10 deadline for the filing of GSTR-3 (July) was postponed until 11th December around the same time. The announcement has been finalized by the Finance Minister for which the government will soon pass a notice. The Indian Government has been taking a series of steps in order to smoothen the transition process of the businesses into this novel indirect tax system. This deadline extension is the latest step that will assist around 30.81 lack taxpayers to file July’s GSTR-2. M.S. Mani (Deloitte Indian partner) has opined that this step may increase GST compliance.
The news is pretty good as an anxiety-buster for many industry players. The news is a breather for them & meanwhile, even the utilities on the portal can be streamlined by GSTN.
